'It’s difficult to think anything but pleasant thoughts while eating a homegrown tomato.'

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?

  • Preparation ca. 10 min
  • Cooking time 10 min
  • Serves 1
  • Total costs ca. £2

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

  • 1 gas cooker
  • 1 wok
  • 1 wooden spoon

INGREDIENTS

  • I green pepper
  • 1 carrot
  • 1/2 pack of mushrooms
  • 2 spring onions (Slice these thinly and set aside)
  • ½ inch of ginger
  • 1 garlic clove (Chop fine and set aside)
  • I packet of noodles
  • Sesame oil/peanut oil/any oil
  • 1 large egg
  • Large splash of Soy sauce. Preferably Kikkoman or Shoyu

HOW TO COOK

  1. Soak noodles in hot water for 1 min then drain and put aside.
  2. Put gas on high. Heat empty  wok for 15 seconds.  Add oil.
  3. Add peppers and carrot for about 1 min and stir.
  4. Add mushrooms and onion for 30 seconds.
  5. Add garlic and ginger briefly and stir.
  6. Add noodles and mix in.
  7. Separate food in wok (you need to see the bottom of the wok)
  8. Now add egg and soy sauce cook for 20 seconds then stir into noodle mix. Make sure egg is cooked through.
  9. Voila, its ready to eat.

Serve with black pepper and chili sauce if that’s your thing.

This can be made with any veg you have to hand, change green pepper for red, change mushrooms for tinned sweetcorn etc.

Cooking times are approximate depending on how high your gas is.

This may be possible to do on a good electric cooker? Let me know if anyone manages it.

Bon Appétit! :-)
